I have the old one sitting in a sad grey heap behind me now in my office. I was told that I could dispose of it as I see fit. The following are my best ideas so far:
- Recreating the Office Space beating of the office equipment in the field. Probably with an aluminum bat.
- Creating a large found object sculpture in the front yard of my rental. It would probably also include a few of the toys from my neighbors front yard.
- Mounting the moniter on my car as a hood ornament.
- Fullfilling my lifelong dream to be as cool as Bruce Willis in Die Hard and tying it to a large quanity of c4 and dropping it down an elevator shaft.
- Saving it until next Christmas and sending it to IT with a big red bow on it.

Use it as a pinata. Similar to the office space idea, only you would have to fill it with candy and hang it from a tree.
might i suggest http://freegeek.org/ in portland as a proper green solution? i know, not as fun as your ideas, but they can reuse/recycle the parts.
Both good ideas. Although, if I gave it back to I.T. they would do the "proper green solution" so that is my contingencey plan.
you should try to make an aquarium out of the monitor.
oh, and I think your blog knows too much for its own good. it better know how to keep its mouth shut
Why wait for Christmas? Valentine's Day is just around the corner... you can write a love note from the computer to the IT dept., expressing how it just could not bear to be separated for one second more... no? dumb idea? ok... nevermind.
