Shop of the Week- Itkin

There are a lot of shops on Etsy, but there are a few shops that I think stand out in a really good way. Itkin is the name of my shop this week. Aaron started Itkin or In The Kings Name, in 2003. He experimented with stencils cut out of sheet plastic on his own before taking some design classes at the state university. All his work is designed and printed by hand in limited runs in his parents garage. He has a full time job teaching, so he works on his shirts mostly late at night and on weekends.

The thing that struck me most about Itkin is how the presentation of the shirts emits a strong mood. The designs are really eye catching and are so unique. The first shirt I saw is the one below and it immediately made me feel like I really wanted to be in that car and drive somewhere, anywhere. Plus, the sign language is such a great idea.

I think that I'm not the best at the photo taking, but I really appreciate how much the presentation of an item through a photograph can make all the difference. Some photos on Etsy are magazine worthy, but most are only Ebay worthy.

It is refreshing to see true craft from time to time. There is nothing like a little creativity and splash of passion.
