It breaks my heart

The wedding that we helped with this weekend went pretty well. Lots of moving and arranging and moving back. I kind of felt like I was at work. Especially when the middle aged women started treating me like crap, that made me feel right at home. I was the guest book attendant and I had to give people instructions on how to write their names on the back of a photo. Tough stuff, tough stuff. They were saying "I don't like this one, I want the other one. wait no, give me that one back, hey Brenda, remember this picture? What? I don't care that there are 30 people waiting behind me."

Laurel, today is my second sunday at church in a row! It's good to be back among the living. I wish that they weren't so hard to love though. Distance does make the heart grow fonder, but, like C.S. Lewis said in Screwtape letters, it doesn't matter if you love the church, it's the faces of the people in the church that you have to love.

i hear ya... we've been engaged in some grueling conversations with people from our church after which my blood was boiling. but there's no replacement for that community, unity in worship. mmm. yummy.

So I'm not the only one who ever said, "God, I love you, but I don't know about your people."
